November 22, 2008 While I am waiting for the vendor fix an issue I am having at work, I started trolling some web design blogs and feeds and came across this article by Cameron Moll. One of the interesting points he makes is the following
Novice writers often make two mistakes: they think they need to be entirely original, and they think they need to wait for “inspiration.” Take it from the pros: for most kinds of writing, originality and inspiration are overrated.
Replace the instances of “writers” and “writing” in Gerry’s quote with “designers” and “Web design” and the message is the same: copy, don’t create.
I will admit I have fallen into this trap several times. As someone who still regards himself as a novice in the web development/design field, I always feel that I need to come up with something original from scratch and not use others work as a guideline/inspiration. When I am not able to come up with something that doesn’t look like a complete pile of shit, I get discouraged and walk away from it. I think going forward I am going to start looking at what other’s have done, see how it’s put together. then after that tweak things and add my own changes to it.
I just need to find some time to actually do it….

November 19, 2008 I been a pretty miserable fuck the past week, To all my loved one’s I am deeply sorry for this. I seemed to have gotten pretty overwhelmed with everything that is going on right now. I do not take stress very well, especially when I have hit burn out. I am going to try and start remedying the situation and tweaking things so that I won’t be overwhelmed anymore. I am going to draft up a plan on how to do this, because man I really need to do something before I lose my sanity.

November 10, 2008 I just realized how long its been since I have updated this thing.
Things have been rather hectic lately, ever since moving to the new gig they been keeping me insanely busy with all the projects that have been lined up. So far we got almost all of the major stuff done and it will hopefully slow down for us to catch a breath.
The house is still coming along and we have not moved into it yet. The outside of it is pretty much done, the only thing that is left is all indoor stuff. At this point I am really sick of painting…
School has been going ok, I can’t believe we are almost half way through the program already. It feels like I just started it. I still need to find some time to dante’s three classes I need to make up.
As far as side projects, I really haven’t had time for anything. I have had no time to really work on this blog and come up with a custom theme. I haven’t had time to try and work honing my webdesign skills or anything else. I am hoping once the house gets finished and we move in that will open up some free time to pursue other interests.
