some redesign updates

I have been toiling away trying to get my new custom theme finished before the February 5th deadline and so far it has not been going so great. I found a color scheme at kuler called Chemical Crime that I been trying to use for the color theme of the site. I am just trying to figure out the best way for what elements get styled with what color. I sort of have a very rough work in progress right now of what I did so far. I am not very happy with the way the background came out. However I am happy with the way the header is looking so far. I am trying to go with a Distressed look. I am getting kind of sick of all the glossy/shiny web 2.0 look and want to try something different.

the distressed/torn paper look is a tough go, especially when you see how stark the contrast is with type. I’m sure you remember the headache that was the Witch’s Hat site from a few years ago.
