July 29, 2005 Yea its been awhile, and honestly i havent really had the urge to blog about anything. Things have been rather busy lately, at work i been busy automating things on our crappy platform. Things that should have been built into the platform when it was created, but because the people who developed it were not smart at all. I have hacked together stuff using secureCRT and VBScript. So far i have taken two thing thats would have wasted a good half hour to forty fives minutes to due manually and automated them to a point where it takes a less then five minutes to run. I want to go back and develop the scripts some more and possibly add in some logging or error handling. It all depends on how motivated i am about it, and if i am too busy doing shit work. I also started playing with PHP again, going to build a web app at work that handles our shift summaries. The process that we have now is way to goddamn convoluted and it takes forever to put together our end of the shift paperwork. Going to stream line it a bit, build in some sort of reporting, and then figure out how to make it accessible for the execs using Treo’s, i am half tempted to not bother with the second part just to spite them. I was going to do it in Coldfusion, but decided that why bother learning a new server side scripting language, and just stick with what i know.
EDIT: I really need to not blog until i atleast have a pot of coffee in me.

July 19, 2005 I am really starting to hate software vendors (I am looking at you macromedia). You try to test out what they have to offer, only to find out that the trial version’s installer is fucked up to a point where there is a 3 page thread (and growing) on their forum saying that it is messed up. Then it was suggest by one of the people working at said company on the forum to use the free installation support by email. So you go ahead and do that only to be told sorry cant help you, it’s not a full version…. and direct you to the forums, or use their knowledge base which like every other vendor out there is fucking useless.
What the fuck kinda of crap is this? what if i was in charge of purchasing for a company and we wanted to use said product but wanted to test it out, but couldn’t? I would more then likely take my money elsewhere, and from the looks of it on the forums people have already.

July 5, 2005 Yea, yea its a day late, but its the thought that counts. I hope people had a good 4th of July (in the states), i know i did. Luckily i didnt have to work on at all and be able to spend time with people i care about and love. Thing’s are still a little bit busy, but i hope to have things slowing down here soon. I finished up my summer class last week, that was the fastest six week class that i have ever took. I really wish that i thought about doing summer classes before, i could have been down with school by now. I have one more semester to go before i am down with school all together and i have a degree. Then the job hunt begins and i can get out of this place (i’ll go more into that later in this post).
Amanda starts up school today. She only had a week for her summer vacation and now she starts her internships for school. Her first one is going to be down at ECMC working with the crazy people for six weeks. After that i think she has family medicine as her next rotation. Not sure what her horurs are going to be like, all i know is that they are going to be changing depending on what she is doing for a rotation at the time.
My brother came home last friday from the Army. He has been gone the past five months doing basic training and advanced individualized training. Now he begins the fun part of going away one weekend a month and two weeks a year for drills and stuff. I’m proud of him for doing it considering all the crap that going on in the middle east. He has finally found something that he enjoys and he is finally getting his shit together instead of wasting his time goofing off. I just hope he doesn’t get deployed to Iraq anytime soon. The reserve unit he is with just came back, so hopefully it will be awhile before they get deployed again.
I started my job hunting earlier then i wanted. I put in a resume at Sprint and a local school district, just trying to get anything at this point so i can get out of the current place i am in. If you caught my last post (which i had to delete of course, because certain people found out about my bitching) you will understand why.
