April 18, 2005 I just hit the front page on Arstechnica this morning and saw a news blurb about Macromedia being bought up by Adobe. In a way i am concerned about what Adobe is going to do with Macromedia’s IP. They are both direct competitors and i personally i always prefered to use Macromedia’s tools over to Adobe’s for most of the web stuff i work on.
I am going to agree with what Clint says in the article…
Macromedia’s web development titles like Contribute, Authorware and Coldfusion that have no clear competitors at Adobe will probably find a nice home there. As for Macromedia’s creative content catalog, I’d guess that Adobe might push for those products to become consumer-level graphics applications and use that positioning to elevate the Adobe product line to a more exalted “professional” status.
As far as price goes and from what i seen the Macromedia stuff costs so much less then the Adobe couterpart. Which is good for small shops and people who want that kind of software but cant afford the price tag.
But looks like we will have to see what happens and how badly Adobe will screw this up.

April 8, 2005 Thank god its friday, i am so ready for the week to be over. I been playing catch up with school work, i had to write up two papers and then get up to speed on my math work. I have a test on monday (boo). After that i need to start working on a RPM building article for linux.ars for adam. Plus Rick needs some oscommerce mods done, this is good because it forces me to get back into PHP and it also gives me an excuse to tinker around with it. This weekend supposed to be nice so i will finally get to reinstall my mp3 player into my Saturn, now that they have kits for it. I am hoping i didnt blow the receiver from the last time i tried to install it. Also need to find a decent pic of myself so ken can get a hackergotchi up for me as well.

April 2, 2005 I was talking to a buddy of mine the other night and we were talking about mp3 players. He was raving about winamp and i mentioned to him that i stopped using winamp when i got my ipod and now use iTunes instead. My buddy then informed me that there is an plugin for itunes support for winamp (!!). So today when i got into work i checked it out, installed the latest version of winamp and grabbed the plugin. Needless to say it works pretty damn good. It will let you move mp3’s back and forth and a ton of other crap. I need to play around with it more, but it looks like it has most of the functionality of itunes.
