Haven’t blogged in awhile, i been busy working on things now that i am not in class or working at school. I am finally buckling down and getting my finances in order. Its going to take awhile but hopefully in time i will have the CC paid off and enough money in the savings account to live off of for a few months if i ever lose my job.
I also been doing some web work for my parents company. My mother oringinally did the site a few years ago in Microsoft Frontpage (yuck!). About a month ago she came to me asking if i can redesign the site for her. So i picked up my copy of Studio MX and started working on it. I did all the graphic work in Fireworks MX and the coding in Dreamweaver MX. Hopnestly i could get away with using textpad and Fireworks, but i really like the app integration and there is a few things DW does that i like (on the fly code validation is one) . I was going to make a php backend to it so she can upload pictures, be able to update the current events section, and a mail form for potential clients. But the ghetto ass webhost they are with doesnt give them PHP support standard on their account (even though its a gold package). If they do want it they will need to pay a $30 setup fee, plus an additional $5/month (WTF). If she didnt just renew for a year i would have told them to migrate to my hosting provider Darkscape . They have much better packages to choose from and cheaper then what they are getting raped for now. So for now i am going to just do the mail form in perl/cgi and i might do some more backend stuff in perl but its going to be too much of a pain in the ass, considering they might not have all the perl modules i need installed on the system. I am hoping if this comes out well it will toss some more web work my way with some of the other dealers in the company.
