Tales from the weekend

So another weekend came and went, too quickly unfortunatly. Went and picked up a new TV yesterday, finally a new one after having my old one for over 10 years. The new one i got is a Sansui 27″ flat screen TV, it has componet, 3 RCA (two back and one in the front), and a S-Video connection. The picture on it is pretty awesome and the i picked up on at Best Buy for pretty cheap versus some of the other 27″ TV’s they had there. (cough sony cough). Also picked up a new PS2 from the local EB game stop. The one i am using now is my brothers and i am going to need my own from when i move out. During my adventure to pick one up from said Gamestop i am not going to shop there anymore, i rather hit the one in the mall now. The 2 guys were pretty obnoxious and the one idiot kept trying to sell me a xbox. I was almost at the point to say “listen fuck face, i dont want a fucking xbox..just give me fucking PS2 like i asked” but the voice of reason (aka Amanda) chimed in and said “No thanks we already own one”…God bless that girl.

We looked at a couple of apartments on Satuday because we are going to be moving out in October. Finally after 26 years its time to move on and get the hell out of the house. We saw one place that i am in love with. Its out by Delaware Park on Delaware Ave. Its a one bedroom and its really nice. The rent comes with heat, water, wireless, basic cable with HBO so that the only thing we will need to pay for month to month is Electric, phone and DSL. Plus it has off street parking which is nice. We are going to look at 2 more places on weds and see if there is anything else around that looks promising.

Yesterday was my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. Its really nice to see a marriage that has lasted that long, especially when nowadays the devorce rate in the US is hovering around the 50% mark. They had a party in their honor yesterday at my Uncle’s place. It was pretty nice and i got to see all the out of town family that came in. The only problem was i had to to deal with the ones that still lived in town. See with my fathers side of the family they pretty much ignore us now including me. I guess it had to do something with a buisness partnership that went bad or some shit. I dont know the details of it but i got included with the aftermath. Which is fine with me, i honestly dont really give a shit anymore whats going on. Maybe with a few of my relatives and the grandparents but with the majority no. I am sick of acknowledging a family full of bigots and hypocrits. Thats all i am going to say on that matter, i am starting to get pissed off.

Taking my Cisco CCNA retest this week. I am going to rock this thing for sure. I know what i am up against and i been studying areas that i had a hard time with. I also picked up the Cisco CCDA self study book and plan on taking that as well after i get my CCNA . From there i havent decided if i want to concentrate on VoIP (voice over IP) or Security. Both are up and comming fields, but i just dont know which one i would be interested in more. Eventually i would like to do both but i dont know which one to focus on. Plus I would like to get a Linux cert as well. I really would like to go for a RHCE, but i wont be able to afford it unless work foots the bill. There is also a the CompTIA, LPI and Novell options as well. I dont know anything about the LPI, the comptia i might take, and i would like to look into what Novell has for linux certifications.

Finished Neil Stephenson’s “Quicksilver” this weekend. It took me since Christmas to read it and now i need to start reading “The Confusion” which is the second book in the serious. But before i dive into that i am reading Ray Bradbury’s “Something Wicked This Way Comes”. So far its pretty good, i am about 15 chapters into it after one day of reading. I heard its a pretty good and screwed up book. I just hope i get to the good screwed up parts soon :)
