April 28, 2004 Semester is going to be wrapping up in a few weeks. Which means i need to figure what i am going to do about next semester. As far as what i need to take here is the list.. electronics 2, 2 math courses, 2 english courses and 2 electives, plus an internship. After that i am finished. I also thinking about certifications after the semester is over. I’ll be down with Cisco 3/4 and should be ready to take the CCNA, which i plan on doing within a month after the semester is over. I kinda have an idea what i want to go for. I would like to at least get a A+ for shits and giggles, was also thinking Security+ as well. Once i get those out of the way i would like to get back on the cisco track and get a CCDA. After that i think i might go for CCNP, but who knows at this point i just need to get this semester over and done with.
April 24, 2004 Well i finally got around and did it, I moved the site from Movabletype to Wordpress. I got sick of the comment spam, plus this is coded in PHP versus Perl. The Theme i am using is the Gutenburg theme that was posted here. It was originally made by Serge K. Keller, i just happen to modify it a little bit and plan on making some more changes in the future (when i get more time). Now i just need to get Jorge to fix the Arslinux planet so its pointing to the new URL.
April 20, 2004 Yea, so i was in the process of exporting all the entries to load them into wordpress. I noticed that i had over 1000 comments, which for me didnt seem right. Turns out that around 1100 comments that were posted was spam. Needless to say i did alot of cleaning. If i accidently nuked anyones posts, sorry about that, there maybe a few that got nuked when i was cleaning these off the database. Well i guess i found another reason to get off of MT.
April 19, 2004 Well back from Detroit now (actually been back since last night). I had alot of fun this weekend and it was awesome meeting a alot of the regulars from #linux. Its pretty neat being able to put faces to names now. Also the panels this weekend rocked. I learned a quite a bit from the web and network security. Epsecially the network security one. I just cant believe the amount of traffic that get sent over plain text and can be sniffed. Its just mind boggling. Remeber kids ssh/ssl is your friend. I was also quiet shocked at the some of the people that they had speak at the con. This sucks because i cant remember some of their names, just know what OSS projects they are from. They had someone from the Mozilla Project, the Samba project, someone from Novell was there. Harshy the Rhythmbox developer was there, he pretty much hung out with us the entire weekend. ESR was there, man that guy was creepy. John “Maddog” Hall was there and i got to sit in on his keynote talk Friday night which was pretty cool. Listening to some of these guys talk was just amazing, i cant really express how much (especially if you got to sit in on the interview Jorge was doing with the Mozzila guy). All in all it was an awesome weekend and i wish it could have been longer. Now i am looking forward to next year already.
