August 31, 2003 well its not 3:14 am EST and here i am on amanda’s laptop unable to sleep. Tonight we watched Daredevil and Bowling for Columbine that we got from Blockbuster last night. Daredevil was ok, i wouldnt call award winning at all. It was just nice to switch off your brain and watch the film. As for Bowling, i thought it was pretty good. I am not sure how much of it is true but it did open my eyes to a few things. Is our country really that fucked up compared to the rest of the world? One of things he talked about was the amount of gun related deaths between a few different countries (Canada, UK, Germany, etc) and in all the US smoked the hell out of everyone as far as deaths per year. Like i said i will need to look up the numbers myself to make sure they are somewhat accurate, but still thats messed up. There is a few more points he made that i want to comment on, maybe in the afternoon when i am more awake.
In other news..
I recently picked up the newest Marilyn Manson CD “The Golden Age of Grotesque”. I know what your are probably thinking…hey thats not the stuff you normally listen to! Thats right it isnt, i used to listen to that kinda stuff a few years ago. Last CD i have from him was Anti-Christ Superstar, at the time i wasnt to thrilled with Mechanical Animals and Holywood so i skipped them. So far i am really enjoying the CD, i did notice that that Tim Skold (KMFDM, Pigface) helped produce it, which imho give it a bitch of a KMFDMish sound.
School starts up this week after Labor day. I got classes on Thursday and Friday from 9-3. Ugh this is going to suck have two long days back to back. But i am looking forward to the classes. One is Digital Logic 2, which is an A+ class and the other is Telecom 2 which is the first half of the Cisco stuff. Plus i cant wait to see the guys from class we usually have alot of fun. Though i am wondering if Eric the annoying shit is going to make an appreance this semester. Last spring he had to drop out of one class and was failing the others pretty bad. I guess thats what happens when you surf the net during class and dont pay attention.
I was supposed to go to Corsten later tonight (its Sunday now), but due to my shitty ass Nissan i had to cancel my plans. I have made it a commitment to save up as much money as possible and get a new car around this summer. My first choice is a Subaru Legacy sedan, if i cant afford that then the back up is a Civic Si. I am going to have to buckle down on a late of extra spending, draw up a budget and beg for money for Christmas and my birthday heh.
Ok i am going to try and hit the sack now, i think amanda is feeling rather lonely in bed. I’ll try and update again at some point tomorrow to write some more thoughts on Bowling.

August 25, 2003 Man its been awhile since i posted something. Been too busy enjoying things other then sitting in front of a computer lately amongst other things. Here is a run down of things that have happened recently..
-Got the results back from my blood work, need to get some more done due to the fact that my liver is kicking out some enzme more then it should. It will probably be nothing because the same thing happened to me in high school and the doc said it was ok. But still they want to run some more tests on it to be sure.
-Still doing the gym thing, I lost about 10 lbs so far and continue to still feel pretty good.
-School is starting up next week, i cant wait. I been really looking forward to classes, considering they are going to kick ass.
-Going to start working on a budget and following it to the T, my goal is to save up enough money to get a new car around this time next year. I’ll post more about it when i get it into place.
-Finally got the laptop dual-booted with winXP and Redhat. So far so good everything seems to be playing nice.
-drwily the debian server is down till further notice. More like when i get around to rebuilding the box with different parts. Been having nothing but problems after the last rebuild.
-Amanda started med school and has been doing ok, she started cutting up her first cadaver in gross anatomy already..i am soo proud hehe.
-Also went car shopping with her this weekend. She wanted to get something better on the gas then what she has now (96 Ford Ranger pickup). We ended up driving a Subaru Outback Sport. So hopefully if her dad can squeeze a couple hundread dollars off the car, she will be getting it.

August 18, 2003 Well i was in a good mood today, i got most of the stuff done that i needed to get done. All i had left to do was call Nissan direct and see if there is anything they can do about the paint. Well needless to say i knew what they were going to say, sorry nothing we can do for you. Its out of warrenty, etc. I am so bummed, i just had nothing but bad experiences with Nissan in general, from their dealerships to the car itself. Maybe its my incredible shitty luck fucking with me again. Another shitty thing is that i still have 2 1/2 years left to go on this thing. I cant even trade it in and get what i have left on it.

August 13, 2003 I dont know what it is with me and cars, i cannot figure it out. I went to get an alignment this morning on the sentra. Guy puts it up on the machine and starts checking it out. Comes back 5 minutes later and wanted me in too take a look at it. Turns out the driver side strut is fucking BENT and the lower balljoint is fucked. How the strut got bent is beyond me. All i do is normal city driving and dont off road the fucking thing, or purposly hit pot holes or run over curbs. So after parts and labor this is going to run me 500 bucks. Not to mention that my check engine light came back on and i have a feeling its the Torque converter erroring out again, which means the tranny is going to get flushed which is another 150 bucks right there between hooking it up to the fucking computer to get the code and flushing the tranny.
O and it gets better, the paint on the hood, front bumper, and driver side quarter panel is flaking off really bad. My aunt who works at a car dealship was nice enough to run a carfax report on it to see if maybe the car got hit and whoever fixed it did a really shitty job. Which means i could have taken the car to the dealship and nail them for not disclosing that to me at the time i got the car. But as it turns out and my shitty luck strikes again, the car wasnt hit and has a clean bill of health. Well a friend of said Aunt happens to work at the nissan dealship where i got the car as an office manager. She told me to call Nissan directly and tell them what happened and see if they can spring to repaint the car. She said more then likely they will do it because they have seen it happen before on different cars where the factory paint is defective. But knowing me they are going to just tell me to go fuck off.
I’m prolly going to have to cancel my trip to Toronto. All this work that needs to be done on the car is going to seriously kill my finances for awhile and drain what ever i have saved up. I’m also going to cut back on a lot of things for now till atleast after the holidays. Yea you know i wish i could have worked somewhere that was close so that i can just take a bus or walk to work and not depend on owning a fucking car and having the life sucked out of me.

August 5, 2003 Yeap thats pretty much how i spent my monday yesterday at work. Sitting there with a Engineer from Microsoft troubleshooting a exchange server in Nashville. In a way it was kinda cool but in the end i was kinda pissy, my boss kept comming out and asking me questions on shit he was already trained on, plus i didnt get a chance to eat dinner. So at the end of it was kinda pissed off and just didnt want to deal with anything. I just hope the big boss wasnt to pissed that i didnt get the GVA bank in time and held up some of the production. I figured this was only going to be an hour or two…not six.
Before i got drafted to help the admin’s out i was able to finish off my snmp book that i got last week. Now i have a much better understanding of snmp and the kinda of things i can do with it. I’ll just have to work on the Openview manual and start getting what i want to get done on paper and start planning on what i am going to do. I already have a list of all the hosts that are running the Openview agents, just need to see what else that can be monitored on them besides all the normal system stuff.
I think its going to be time for my annual reformat and reinstall of winXP soon. svchost for some reason keeps crapping all of itself which reboots the machine. Pain in the ass i tell you, i wonder if something for fucked up when my brother managed to hijacked it and surfed around porn sites.

Looks like things are starting to heat up a bit in the SCO vs IBM case. I am glad RH is doing this, SCO from day one has been beating its drum and making a bunch of racket. The one thing they havent done yet was show proof of what IP of their has been infringed on.
