March 27, 2003 Have you ever worked on a project and everything looks good, your code looks like its going to do what it’s supposed to do. But the project doesnt work, or you get an error that doesnt make sense? then it turns out the problem is something really stupid and easy? I have. I been working on a PHP project thats basically a heavly modified version of this billing system tutorial. Well what happened was alot of the code i was writing was not working when it should and I was getting all the same error messages. So my first thought was shit the server is fucked up. Talked my buddy that owns the server and he said everything is kosher. So i asked around on a the forums and it turns out i didnt have the permissions setup the right way (crap). Man all i wanted to do after that was bang my head against the desk.
Also after reading through some of my old posts, i really need to proof-read before publishing them. For some reason what i type and what i am thinking doesnt always agree. So for now on i am going to try and proof-read before i post.
In other news, I thought I was going to Toronto next week for four days on a buisness trip to redo the network at a site based there. But it got pushed up to this weekend, so i am leaving tomorrow around noon with our TNS-data guy for the weekend to run new cable, patch panels and networking gear. Its going to be an interesting experience. The bad thing is that i am not going to be able to hang out with Amanda this weekend 
Also i been working on another new project at work. I started working on learning HP’s Openview. Its monitoring software that allows us to do all sorts of server monitoring, like disk usage, processor usage, check to see if services are running on certain servers, etc. What I am going to be doing is start setting up different monitoring scripts and trying to make our lives a little easier. So far after going through a primer with the admin on what i can do, i already started comming up with some cool ideas. So hopefully i’ll be able to implement them, once i get more into it, i’ll get into more detail.

March 25, 2003 Right now i can’t really say that i am having a crappy day or a really good day. Its kinda a balance between the two. For the good part, today is March 25th. You may be thinking yea so? Well my dear reader today was that the day that the following two CDs were released:
I know what your thinking, arrrgh Linkin Park. Granted they are a mainstream group i really dig their style and music. I think they really kick ass, if you have a problem with it then thats fine i respect your opinion.
So far from listening to both discs, i would have to say they are different then their previous disc. Which in my humble opinion its a good thing. I appreciate it when artists branch out and try new things musicly instead of rehashing the same thing over and over. If you get a chance i would suggest you pick up these CDs.
Now i said i had bad stuff to go along with my day, well here is the skinny. Basically we run these proccess in for some of clients on a Order Management System with batch proccess orders and stuff. Well recently things have been in a state of fucked up since the facility that housed the server kinda collapsed and it got moved up here to Buffalo. So tonight i spent 2 hours to get one of these new proccess to work because they changed shit around on how we log into to the system instead of keeping it the same. Man i was so pissed off at one point i wanted to launch my PC out the door. Recently i been seeing a disturbing trend of me losing my patience at the littlest things at work, especially when people mess something up. Now i know that no one is perfect and people mess shit up, especially when dealing with new processes that your not familar with or you had an off day and missed something. I respect that, i been there. But when you are fucking up on a consistent level then i start getting pissed. Which has been happening in our group lately. I rather have the manager deal with it and have it that. But its bad when the manager says somethintg and people still fuck up somehow. It just pisses me off, because it makes the group looks bad and they dont give a shit about it. I just cant handle it, i guess i care about my work tooo much and cant stand to see shit get messed up.
I been hacking on MT some lately on the laptop trying to make a cool custom style for the site. So far it isnt easy as i thought, i havent found any really good docs on doing MT mods. I’m going to try and post something on the support form for some direction and see how that goes.

March 24, 2003 Figure i would fire off a quick post before i do some coding and hit the sack. I had a great weekend as usual. I spent it with the love of my life and got to do alot of things i wanted to do this weekend. Amanda and I hit the Buffalo Science Museum Saturday and we had a blast. Its prolly been about 10+ years since i been there, and man has it changed alot. Its changed so much that i dont remember two thirds of it. But in all it was a good time and to get out of the house for a bit. I also got the new speakers hooked up, stuff cleaned up from around the room, laundry done, got an RMA for a motherboard that i got awhile back, hair cut and a few other things. So all in al i had a pretty busy weekend and tomorrow its the return to the grind.

March 21, 2003 And i get the weekend off…woooo hoo!!!
Lets see plans for this weekend are:
-Spend a ton of time with Amanda, because i miss her alot.
-Going to the Buffalo Science Museum to check out cool stuff, plus they have the mechanical dinosaur exhibit going on.
-If the weather is nice on Sunday, going to hit some nature trails
-Work on hacking MT (Actually i might do that tonight, drwily is fixed)
-Get my new speakers hooked up on the PC
-Get room cleaned, i need to get some parts and boxes picked up from the rebuild frenzy.
-Also need to get a haircut badly
-Last but not least, laundry (eww)
I just have to make it through one more night

March 20, 2003 Got the new parts in last night and now megaman has been fully upgraded 
I got my new speakers today so i wll have to get those setup when i get home from work tonight. All I know is that its going to be a really early night for me tonight. I was up till 5am messing around with my PC getting it rebuilt and i am have class tomorrow @ 9am. So i am not going to be messing around around heh. Ok time to go eat lunch and get some bills ready
